Cambia Grove Innovator Fellowship FAQs
What is the Cambia Grove Innovator Fellowship?
Started in 2019, the Cambia Grove Innovator Fellowship program pairs selected fellows with experts in data interoperability to focus on high-priority projects important to implementation. See details about our past fellowship engagements and meet previous fellows here.
About the 2021 Innovator Fellowship Program:
Fellows taking part in this year’s cohort will collaborate with the HL7 FHIR ACCELERATOR™ Program including the Argonaut Project, CARIN Alliance, CodeX, Da Vinci Project, Gravity Project and Vulcan to develop, vet and standardize a framework for measuring the value of HL7® FHIR® use case implementation. This framework will drive practical implementation and adoption of HL7 FHIR standards. The intended use of the final deliverable will be to provide insight to organizations implementing interoperability.
What is the selection process?
The application period is open from April 5-30. Once all applications have been received, the review process will begin, consisting of two rounds. The first round will be based upon application and resume review. The second round will consist of 30-minute phone interviews for top applicants. Interviewers will include members of the Cambia Grove team and may include additional members of the participating HL7 Accelerator Projects. Phone interviews will be conducted May 11-May 18. A total of six fellows will be selected to participate in this year’s fellowship cohort. Applicants and selected fellows will be notified of selection by May 20. The engagement period will begin July 1.
Who should apply?
For the 2021 Fellowship, the ideal applicant is an individual looking to advance implementation of interoperability in the health care system. Health equity and transparency is at the root of their innovative thinking for implementing change. Fellows should be interested in data interoperability and may have experience working within the health care system. Applicants are from a range of backgrounds and experiences, including graduate or post-doctoral students or professionals looking to expand their knowledge of interoperability. Meet our 2020 Fellows here!
Can students apply?
Yes! We welcome participation from a wide range of perspectives and career stages.
If I am selected, what will I be doing?
This year’s fellows will be working alongside experts from the HL7 FHIR ACCELERATOR Program and other leaders in the health care innovation community. You will be conducting stakeholder interviews, developing metrics, gathering data, and collaborating with the HL7 projects to ultimately develop a value metrics framework to demonstrate the value of data interoperability. You can learn more about each of these projects and their work by visiting the HL7 FHIR ACCELERATOR Program website here.
What is the time commitment for the fellowship?
Fellows will be engaged in project work 5-10 hours per week from July 1, 2021-September 30, 2021. The time commitment each week may fluctuate based upon progress toward specific deliverables. Additionally, fellows will be invited to take part in a kick-off event in late June (date TBD). Fellows will also participate in a final presentation event to share takeaways from the Fellowship Program in October (date TBD).
Is this a volunteer effort or will I be paid?
Fellows will receive a $3,000.00 stipend for the 3-month fellowship.
