Innovation to Infantry: Connecting you with the Department of DefenseEvent | November 8th, 2018
Office Hours are conducted by members of the community to provide one-on-one appointments with startups and entrepreneurs working toward health care transformation. There will be 4 one-on-one time slots, 30 minutes each, making up two hours in total.
A few days prior, we will send out "Confirmation Required" emails to registrants. You must email back to confirm your spot or we will have to release your ticket.
Discussion of Department of Defense health care system ”pain points”, general approaches to grants and research collaboration, discussion of how to design and fund demonstration projects, and (when appropriate), warm introductions to military health care thought leaders.
Target Audience: Innovators with a product or idea that might meet an unmet need of the Department of Defense health care system, but who are struggling to find ways in which to gain access to the system.
Bio: David McCune, M.D., recently retired from a 25-year career as an Army physician and researcher. His relevant prior positions included Consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General for Hematology/Oncology and for Clinical Investigation. As the Research Consultant for the Regional Health Command- Pacific, he worked to pair innovative corporations with unmet needs and grant programs within the military. His successful projects include collaborations on research for tobacco cessation and head injury prevention and over $1M in grants for Seattle-based companies. He will discuss lessons learned from successes and failures in collaboration with the DoD.
After retiring from military service, Dr. McCune joined the Seattle-based startup 98point6, where he is the Medical Director of Clinical Research. He is on the Board of Directors of Washington Global Health Alliance and the Readiness Acceleration and Innovation Network, a Tacoma-based research lab and non-profit incubator.
