OHSU is joining forces with MIT Hacking Medicine and academic and industry partners from across the Pacific Northwest to bring you the inaugural OHSU Invent-a-thon, a virtual health hackathon, October 23–25, 2020.

MIT Hacking Medicine events have directly led to the creation of numerous successful companies, gaining over $250 million in funding, and even a billion-dollar acquisition. The ideas that have emerged from these weekend sessions are currently or promising to make a real difference in healthcare outcomes.

Our engaging virtual event, the first of its kind in our region, will convene teams of hundreds of creative problem solvers and thought leaders, from across disciplines and geographic boundaries, to build community and tackle pressing healthcare challenges.

Join us as we work to build innovative medtech solutions in surgical care and early disease diagnosis, and address digital health/health IT issues around rural/low-resource-setting healthcare and management of chronic conditions.

Teams are encouraged to address healthcare disparities within these areas, particularly those that have been brought on or exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you’re interested in advancing healthcare, and improving our ability to address health disparities and respond to future crises, this is the weekend for you. We welcome healthcare professionals, engineers, makers, researchers, entrepreneurs, business experts, designers, developers, students, or patients.

You will have a chance to hear from inspiring keynotes, join an interdisciplinary team of fellow innovation enthusiasts, brainstorm and build a solution, receive coaching from mentors, talk with our sponsors, and pitch a solution to investor judges to compete for up to $40,000 in team prizes.

Deadline to apply is October 7.
