Adoption
Problem (i.e. barrier, issue, complication, etc.) being solved for the end user
Subjective use of electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) for observation of the labor process causes an increased rate of adverse outcomes for mother and baby. This also results in disproportionately high rates of malpractice lawsuits in obstetrical care compared to all other fields of medicine and the highest liability insurance cost in all of healthcare. At present, EFM is subjective, slow, and nondeterministic. There should be no room for ignorance in life-saving technology.
