Pioneers on health data’s frontier

What constitutes health data? Is it limited to formal EHR data, or does it encompass gym visit history and grocery receipts? Susannah Fox, former CTO of HHS, Cambia Health Solutions board member and digital health consultant, asked the audience at Cambia Grove’s Interoperability Summit.

Mapping out the possible was a trending theme for speakers as they pushed the boundaries limiting health data exchange today. When health data becomes accessible to consumers they’re empowered to change their unhealthier habits, participate in decisions with their providers and take charge of their own health outcomes.

Fox urged the industry to “look for the hackers and cowboys and artists” and empower them. This support gives these pioneers the “booster rockets” that will transform health care.
