Virtuleap

Virtuleap's VR brain training app offers a daily cognitive workout of short, intense and fun games designed to help increase attention levels, as well as address cognitive illnesses, disorders, and learning challenges. We have developed an accompanying data dashboard that allows caregivers, educators, and organizations to monitor and manage the cognitive performance of their users.

Enhance VR Brain Training
Each game is designed by a cognitive scientist based on a well-known exercise (e.g. Stroop Test) or inspired by such in order to create a closed-loop experience that plateaus a user at a specific difficulty level that corresponds to their cognitive load and ability. These are not easy environments to create, requiring significant iteration throughout their development life cycle, which in our industry is referred to broadly as "VR development hell".

Our VR brain training games are designed to help improve mental health and address cognitive illnesses, disorders, and learning challenges. The multi-sensory nature inherent in 3D environments trigger the autonomic nervous system, vestibular balance system, and proprioception into believing the experience is real, which helps to engage multiple cognitive, emotional, and experiential learning systems in parallel. We have also created a web application for caregivers that allows them to manage and monitor the cognitive performance of their communities over time. Our long-term vision is to create a new digital health marker for the early detection of cognitive diseases such as dementia by mining the big data of gameplay patterns over time.
Idea/solution to the problem, if applicable
We seek to demonstrate that regular VR cognitive workouts can transfer to core daily activities in life, which serves to improve overall mental health, cognitive performance, and potentially extends the quality of life of the aging population. Our digital health marker will also serve to detect the early onset of cognitive illnesses like Alzheimer's by mining the big data of VR gameplay patterns with the help of machine learning.

Our beta release launched a few months ago and we have about 5,000 beta users. Our full release launches in the summer along with a new UI that includes features like informing users on how their sleeping cycles and moods affect their cognitive performance, as well as introducing biometric integrations into the data dashboard for organizations.

We are about to begin a wave of feasibility studies with our research partners, including the Pacific Brain Health Center, VA Medican Health Center, and White Plains Hospital, this summer.
