Clark Cahoon is the director of the life science industry at the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development. In his role, Clark oversees the growth and impact of one of Utah’s six targeted industries which is one of the fastest growing and most diverse- helping to classify Utah as the most diverse economy in the nation. As Governor Herbert’s Life Science sector lead, he drives strategic initiatives, publishes industry reports, supports corporate recruitment efforts, and works with startups to connect them to vital resources that help put Utah on the map as a biotech and innovation hub. Previously he managed the Technology Commercialization & Innovation Program (TCIP) which awards startups across sectors and throughout the state who have developed new and innovative technologies to help them go to market. Prior to that Clark led the trade services team at World Trade Center Utah where they helped small and medium sized businesses navigate the waters of international trade through custom market research, data analysis, and export related consulting. Clark received his bachelor's degree in political science from Brigham Young University- Hawaii with a minor in Conflict Resolution. He spends his free time camping and hiking through Utah’s deserts, playing basketball or reading a good book.
