What do the terms “behavioral health” and “mental health” mean? 

Behavioral health can be defined as the promotion of mental health, resilience and well-being.

Mental health, which is one area of behavioral health, can include a variety of factors, such as biology, psychological state, and habits. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines mental health as “a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.”
